The
“ZenScanTM ” – Advanced
Under Vehicle Surveillance Scanner System (AVSS*) is a computer
vision based system which uses high end electro-mechanical
and camera based assembly to image the underside
of the moving vehicle at the entrance of any high
security installation. The video grabbed by the
system is stitched to form a composite image of
the underside of the vehicle. Potential applications
include inspection of vehicle undersides for presence
and detection of unwanted substances like bombs,
explosives, contraband things etc.
As the vehicle remains moving
at all times through a “pre-selected”
area, the operator has time to interrogate the
image produced
within seconds of the vehicle having been driven
over the scanner system. Faster display prevents
any lengthy & often undesirable disruptions
to the traffic flow. The image is displayed on
a monitor (or a touch screen) and can be controlled
by the operator to change the appearance of the
image or zoom into selected areas to examine the
underside of the vehicle in more detail.
The system also includes a scene
camera, which can be used for viewing and displaying
the vehicle number plate and the driver, along
with the underside image of the vehicle. An Automated
License Plate Reader system can also be integrated
with it.
Another distinct feature of “ZenScanTM ”
is presence of additional 3 – 4 auxiliary
cameras, which are placed at an angle so as to
cover the video of the hard to image areas, e.g.
the area between tyre and mudguard, top part of
the silencer etc; which provide a thorough view
of the hidden parts of the underside.
Apart from the fixed version,
“ZenScanTM ”is also available in
mobile form with a ramp which can be a crucial
security aid for high-profile exhibitions, conferences
etc.
